The Vietnamese Network Information Centre (VNNIC) will be establishing a Domain Dispute Resolution Policy to deter cyber squatters from registering 2nd Level .VN Domains when they are released to the public. VNNIC felt that with the increased interest in 2nd Level domains there would be more attempts at cyber squatting.
The general release of this announcement is scheduled to be in April 2005.
Limited public “sunrise” release of 2nd level .VN domains
The limited public “sunrise” release of 2nd level .VN domains is currently scheduled to be launched in mid-April 2005. This will be a 45-day period and will limit registrations to trademark holders, well-known companies, intellectual property holders and copyright owners. Resellers representing an entity that meet the mentioned stipulations will also be eligible to register domains.
Once the 45 days limited public “sunrise” release window period is closed, 2nd Level .VN domains will go live worldwide and will be available to all of the general public. This is expected to be at the beginning of June 2005.
