The Trademark Sunrise phase (Phase 1) is now underway for a new domain extension (COM.DE) for Germany. Now through 5:00 p.m. CEST July 22, 2011, applicants who can demonstrate ownership of a trademark or a commercial company name that is registered with a German Commercial Register and is identical to the desired domain name may apply. If more than one Applicant meets the requirements for this policy for a given domain name, the allocation of that domain name will be determined by auction in which case, only the Applicants who are qualified under the present policy will be allowed to participate in the auction. This extension has no local presence requirements. Additionally, the registry will not withhold any premium names, or one-character or two-character domains from being registered.
The Sunrise Fee is $575 and includes the sunrise application fee, the trademark validation fee and a one-year registration fee. Renewals for COM.DE domains will include a $25 NIC Fee plus your contracted admin fee.
There will be subsequent registration phases for non-trademark holders.
Phase 2: Landrush (5:00 p.m. CEST July 25, 2011 – 5:00 p.m. CEST August 26, 2011)
The Landrush is open to anyone wishing to register a .COM.DE domain name where that domain name was not previously registered or applied for during the Sunrise Process, or excluded by the Registry. If two or more Applicants submit an Application during this phase for an identical domain name, the allocation of the domain name will be determined by auction in which case, only the Applicants who are qualified under the present policy will be allowed to participate in the auction.
Phase 3: .DE Registrant Promotion (5:00 p.m. CEST August 30, 2011 – 5:00 p.m. CEST September 23, 2011)
The .DE Registrant Promotion is open to all registrants of a .de domain wishing to secure the same name under .com.de where that Domain Name was not previously registered or applied for during the Sunrise or Landrush Processes, or excluded by the Registry. Only domains that exactly match the .de equivalent and have the same registrant will be registered in the Registry at the end of this period.
Phase 4: General Availability (from 5:00 p.m. CEST September 26, 2011)
.COM.DE domains will become available to anyone through participating registrars or their resellers. Domains that were previously registered or applied for during the Sunrise, Landrush period or .DE Registrant promotion, or excluded by the Registry will be excluded .COM.DE domains are available to the public based on the chronological order of registrations on a first come, first served basis.
